VIII Acerinox Award
The innovative barbecue designed by María García wins the Acerinox Award
4BQ Stainless Steel Barbecue Cooker, Final Degree Project by María García Massaneda, student of the Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Design Engineering, has won the eighth edition of the Acerinox Award.
Her TFG, tutored by Roger Arquer and Marta González, proposes a barbecue product that combines a solid technical base with an attractive and functional design.
The award ceremony took place on Tuesday 14 May in Elisava’s Sala Aleix Carrió, Barcelona. The event was chaired by Dr. Javier Peña, General Director of Elisava; Bernardo Velázquez, CEO of Acerinox; Marta González, Head of Studies of the Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Design Engineering, and Ángel Castillo, Director of the Institute for Construction Science Eduardo Torroja-CSIC and President of the Jury of the VIII Acerinox Award. The event was also attended by related companies and members of the teaching staff of the Undergraduate Degree in Engineering.
María García Massaneda explained the details of her project and received the Acerinox Award trophy, which was delivered by Bernardo Velázquez, CEO of Acerinox.
Aesthetics, functionality and ergonomics
In the field of industrialization, 4BQ Stainless Steel Barbecue Cooker optimizes manufacturing processes, taking into account aspects such as efficiency, scalability and profitability. Special attention is also paid to the usability and ergonomics of the product, considering aspects such as ease of use, its intuitive and practical nature, comfort during cooking and safety for the user.
All in all, 4BQ seeks to generate a positive impact on the market, offering a quality product that stands out for its performance, durability and attractive design, promoting moments of community connection with nature, seeking to overcome the limitations of outdoor cooking and offering a product that combines aesthetics and functionality.
High level of the finalists: a very competitive prize
The jury, composed of Angel Castillo Talavera (Director of the IETcc-CSIC), as President; Bernardo Velázquez Herreros (CEO of Acerinox); Gemma Herranz Sánchez-Cosgalla (Deputy Director of Academic Planning, ETSII-CR, University of Castilla La Mancha); Tristán López Chicheri (Managing Partner of the L35 architecture studio) and Francisco Fernández de la Mata (Director of Acerinox Europa), highlighted the high quality of the finalist projects.
According to the jury, the winning Final Project stands out above all others for its originality, its complete study of a real and specially for being a 360-project which encompasses from the idea conception, marketing research, design, selection of the material, fabrication process to the final prototype.
