In equestrian environments, where factors such as constant humidity, biological waste and mechanical stress coexist, the choice of materials must consider much more than just aesthetics. Stainless steel is an ideal solution for structures, equipment and items used directly with horses.

The most common grades used in equestrian sports are austenitic stainless steels, such as AISI 304 and 316. These contain chromium and nickel in proportions that give them high corrosion resistance. AISI 316, which incorporates molybdenum, offers even greater resistance in aggressive environments or those requiring intensive cleaning.

In stalls, swing doors, dividers and tack rooms, stainless steel allows for a solid structural design without the need for coatings. Correct welding and subsequent surface treatment make sure that the surface is free of pores, easy to disinfect and resistant to scratches. This reduces the build-up of dirt or bacteria, which is especially relevant in facilities with high animal traffic.

As for mouthpieces, bits, and chains, the use of stainless steel is based on health and functional reasons. Its chemical stability prevents the release of metal residues or strange taste, which improves acceptance by the horse. In addition, its hardness ensures that the geometry of the mouthpiece is not altered by prolonged use, which is critical to ensuring symmetrical and controlled action. 

Stainless steel also shows great dimensional stability in hinges, latches and anchoring systems. Unlike galvanised carbon steels, it does not require periodic maintenance and is not affected by repeated contact with water or detergents.
